Alex Walnier began practicing Aikido in 1998 at Marc Mairy’s Sankakutaï club in Ougrée.
He then started studying under Dany Leclerre Shihan at Aikikai Herstal, and he would go on to teach the children’s section for several years.
At the same time, Alex pursued studies in physical education, which he completed in 2006.
Alex presented his Shodan (1st Dan) in 2007 and his Nidan (2nd Dan) in 2009, before the Belgian Federal Grading Commission (A.F.A.).
He presented his Sandan (3rd Dan) in 2011 and his Yodan (4th Dan) in 2015 before Christian Tissier Shihan.
He received his 5th Dan from Christian Tissier in January 2022.
Alex taught at the European Commission’s club (CESAM) as well as at Aikikai Herstal for many years.
He opened a class in Boncelles in 2015, under the same non-profit association as the Sankakutaï Ougrée club (where he also taught).
Alex then built his private dojo in 2019, with Christian Tissier honoring him by inaugurating it.
Alex has been a member of the Belgian Federal Grading Commission (A.F.A.) since February 2023.
He regularly trains with Christian Tissier Shihan in Vincennes and during his travels.
Throughout his journey, Alex has also practiced Muay Thai.
